There are four papers for IGCSE French.
Paper 1 (Listening) is 45 minutes long and carries 40 marks (for both Foundation and Higher Tiers).
The tasks in Paper 1 require students to listen to various recordings and answer multiple-choice, matching, and short-answer questions.
Paper 2 (Reading) carries 45 marks. It is 1 hour for the Foundation Tier and 1 hour 15 minutes for the Higher Tier.
Paper 3 (Speaking) typically lasts 7 to 12 minutes and carries a raw mark of 50 (weighted to 25% of the total qualification). Students complete one Role-Play, a Topic (Photo Card) presentation and discussion, and a General Conversation.
Paper 4 (Writing) carries 45 marks. It is 1 hour for the Foundation Tier and 1 hour 15 minutes for the Higher Tier. Tasks include a short-directed writing task/sentence transformation and a longer writing task selected from an article, blog, email, or letter option.
