JC Physics Tuition That Makes the Hard Parts Click

The A-Level Physics course requires students to shift between real-world situations, physical models, and mathematical relationships—typically all within one question. Our tutors specifically train students in making this kind of transition, focusing on the Singapore-Cambridge marking rubric as well as on the syllabus.

Junior College students working through Physics problems

Why JC Physics Catches Students Off Guard

O-Level Physics is mainly based on description while JC Physics focuses on derivation; students are required to build models, justify their assumptions, and explain why a particular relationship applies rather than just recalling it. This change takes place soon, typically before the students’ study habits have been able to adjust.

From the very first lesson our tutors help students make this transition. We teach each topic in accordance with the current SEAB syllabus and link every explanation to the way examiners award marks, so that students learn how to earn partial credit even when dealing with complicated multi-step problems.

Tuition Hub Academy, which is based in India, provides tuition to students at Singaporean Junior Colleges. It runs its operations online rather than having a physical office, a situation which ensures that our fees remain well below those of local tuition centers – and allows us to match students with tutors who have been selected on the basis of their knowledge in the subject rather than their location.

What Our JC Physics Programme Covers

Each lesson plan is based on the official Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level Physics syllabus, with no topics being omitted and nothing from a previous syllabus being taught.

Academic Coverage

1We cover the entire H2 Physics syllabus (9478) and the H1 Physics syllabus (8867), ensuring that no examinable topic is left unaddressed.
2For each formula we explain the reason for it, since Physics questions usually do not give students a straightforward collection of variables to substitute.
3Topic summaries turn each part of the syllabus into a readable revision sheet, meaning that students never have to rely on incomplete class notes.
4The past questions are dealt with topic by topic, enabling students to see the way in which each concept usually appears in the exam.

Teaching Method

1Multi-step problems are divided into stages, thus developing the analytical skills that structured questions encourage.
2If a student is struggling with a particular concept we stick to it—using worked examples, different explanations and diagrams—until they understand it.
3Each explanation is linked to the marking rubric; for example, in a question involving a projectile, method marks are given for the appropriate kinematic equation and correct substitution even if the final answer is incorrect — and as a result students learn to identify that difference.
4The teaching closely adheres to the exam syllabus, with specific periods allocated for the JC1 Promos and the JC2 Prelims.
5We teach H2 students the practical skills required for Paper 4, specifically those relating to planning, measurement, data presentation and evaluation.

Support and Structure

1The same tutor is followed by the students, which means that the pace is adjusted according to how quickly each topic is actually understood.
2The lessons are arranged according to the student’s availability, covering both the evening and weekend times.
3After every chapter test, parents are given a progress update, so there is no need to guess.
4Throughout the programme the students take timed mock exams and work through questions from previous years.
5The preliminary papers from past Singapore junior colleges that have been compiled are arranged according to topic and level of difficulty.

H1 and H2 Physics — How They Differ

H2

H2 Physics (Syllabus 9478)

H2 Physics accounts for a large portion of the University Admission Score and is examined over four required papers.

Paper 1 consists of multiple choice questions (1 hour, 30 marks, 15%). Paper 2 contains structured questions (2 hours, 75 marks, 30%). Paper 3 comprises longer structured questions (2 hours, 75 marks, 35%). Paper 4 is the practical examination (2 hours 30 minutes, 50 marks, 20%) which takes place in October. The syllabus includes the following topics: Foundations of Physics, Mechanics, Waves, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Modern Physics. The tutors deal with the entire syllabus, with a focus on model-building, handling uncertainty, and ensuring that the working is presented clearly.

H1

H1 Physics (Syllabus 8867)

Physics is assessed in two papers only, with no practical component.

Paper 1 consists of multiple choice questions (1 hour, 30 marks), while Paper 2 contains structured questions (2 hours, 80 marks). The syllabus includes topics on Measurement, Newtonian Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Nuclear Physics, but omits Waves and Thermal Physics, the latter being part of the H2 syllabus. Since the written papers count for the entire grade, the tutors focus on accurate definitions and the use of correct physical terminology—these are the two areas in which students most frequently lose easy marks by misusing structural keywords.

What Sets Our JC Physics Tuition Apart

01

We choose tutors based on their real expertise in Physics, then match them with students whose needs fit that specialism.

02

The lessons are based on the way marks are actually awarded, enabling students to understand where the examiners give credit within a question.

03

Since we offer classes only over the internet, our fees are considerably lower than the amounts that physical tuition centers charge for the same quality.

04

The lessons start on time, are according to a prearranged plan, and are given by tutors who take the commitment seriously.

05

The syllabus has been finished in advance, leaving room for proper revision rather than having to cram at the end of the year.

06

After each chapter, unit, and half-syllabus has been carried out a regular assessment so that progress is not merely assumed but can be seen.

07

Digital diagrams, animations and recorded walkthroughs help to make the lessons clear, in particular when the subject matter is something abstract such as waves and electric fields.

08

Parents are made aware of the progress by receiving regular updates following each assessment cycle.

09

As part of the programme, students do timed mock papers and go through questions from previous years.

10

The entire process is carried out on one platform, which means that families have only one point of contact.

The rates for the Singapore Dollar are given first, with the equivalent amount in Indian Rupees provided alongside. The lesson materials are included in both currencies. Bills are prepared in SGD for students in Singapore.

💡

Steady Progress

Since students take regular tests covering chapters and half-syllabuses, improvement is not assumed but rather measured.

🎯

Exam-Focused Teaching

Tutors take the Singapore-Cambridge marking rubric into account by indicating where the method marks are awarded and where the accuracy marks are lost.

🌐

Flexible Timing

The sessions are organised according to the student’s availability, with evening and weekend times included, and can be altered when the student’s school commitments change.

JC Physics Tuition — Common Questions

How much does JC Physics tuition cost?
The fees vary between S$20 and S$50 per hour according to the tutor tier, and the equivalent amount in Indian Rupees is given next to each rate. The full breakdown can be seen in the fee table mentioned above.
What is the method used to calculate the University Admission Score?
The score is out of 70; each of the three H2 subjects contributes 20 points and the H1 General Paper adds 10. The fourth content subject and the H1 Mother Tongue only count if they cause the total to increase.
What Physics courses do you teach?
We offer the teaching of H1 Physics (Syllabus 8867) and H2 Physics (Syllabus 9478), as well as provide private one-to-one tuition for JC Physics.
Are lessons conducted online?
Yes. All JC Physics lessons happen live over video. You can ask for small-group sessions if you want.
What will occur if my child doesn’t get along with the tutor who has been assigned?
We’ll provide you with a different tutor at no extra cost since the right match is more important than the paperwork and if a change is required it will be arranged swiftly.
If your Academy is not based in Singapore, then how is that possible?
Tuition Hub Academy is based in India and runs its administrative services digitally in order to keep the costs low. The teaching team consists of teachers in Singapore and tutors in India who adhere closely to the JC Physics syllabus, and the curriculum has been used by Singapore Junior College students for more than ten years. Since each lesson is given live and on an individual basis, students get the same amount of personal attention no matter where their tutor is located.
