Kasheen Kumar- English, Economics & BM

I am Kasheen Kumar, an IB tutor at My Tuition Hub Academy and a proud International Baccalaureate Diploma graduate with a perfect score of 45/45. Having recently completed the IB

Diploma Programme myself, I bring a unique perspective to tutoring that combines academic excellence, first-hand curriculum experience, and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in the IB.

Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences at Amsterdam University College. My university studies continue to strengthen my research, writing, analytical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning skills, all of which directly support my work as an IB tutor.

One of the greatest advantages I bring to students is my familiarity with the latest IB syllabus, assessment expectations, and examination strategies. Having navigated the programme successfully myself, I understand the challenges students face and the methods that can help them achieve outstanding results.

Subjects I Studied and Excelled In

My IB subject combination allowed me to develop strong analytical, communication, and critical-thinking skills across multiple disciplines.

My Higher Level subjects included:

  • English Language and Literature HL
  • Economics HL
  • Business Management HL

My Standard Level subjects included:

  • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL
  • Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) SL

I was recognised for outstanding academic performance in Business Management, Economics, and ESS. These achievements reflect not only strong subject knowledge but also a clear understanding of IB assessment requirements and examiner expectations.

Helping Students Succeed in the IB Programme

My tutoring focuses exclusively on helping IB students achieve their academic goals through personalised support and strategic preparation.

I currently provide guidance in:

  • IB English Language and Literature
  • IB Economics
  • IB Business Management
  • IB Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS)
  • Foundational support for IB Mathematics AA

Beyond subject knowledge, I help students develop the skills that are essential for success in the IB. This includes critical thinking, structured writing, research skills, exam technique, and effective study habits.

I believe that strong results come from understanding both the content and the assessment process. For this reason, I spend significant time helping students understand how marks are awarded and what examiners are looking for.

Guiding Students Through IAs and Extended Essays

One area where I particularly enjoy supporting students is academic coursework.

The Internal Assessment and Extended Essay can often feel overwhelming, even for highly capable students. Having successfully completed these components myself, I understand the challenges students face and how to overcome them.

I support students with:

  • IA topic selection
  • Research question development
  • Structure and organisation
  • Criterion-based improvement
  • Draft review and feedback
  • Evidence integration
  • Reflection and evaluation

For Extended Essays, I help students move from initial ideas to a well-developed final submission. My goal is always to help students produce work that meets IB standards while developing genuine research and writing skills.

My Approach to One-to-One Tutoring

Since July 2025, I have been working as an independent IB tutor, supporting students from a variety of backgrounds and academic levels.

Every student learns differently. Because of this, I avoid one-size-fits-all teaching methods. Instead, I design lessons based on each student’s strengths, weaknesses, learning preferences, and academic goals.

My lessons typically involve:

  • Diagnostic assessment of learning gaps
  • Personalised study plans
  • Targeted concept reinforcement
  • Essay-writing support
  • Exam-style question practice
  • Regular feedback and progress tracking

I focus on making difficult concepts easier to understand by breaking them into manageable parts and connecting them to real-world examples whenever possible.

Turning Assessment Criteria into Academic Success

One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my own IB journey is that success depends on more than intelligence or hard work. Students must also understand how assessments are evaluated.

A major focus of my teaching is helping students think strategically about assessments.

I help students:

  • Understand command terms
  • Interpret mark schemes
  • Identify common mistakes
  • Develop effective exam techniques
  • Improve time management
  • Structure high-scoring responses

By understanding how examiners assess work, students become more confident and significantly improve their performance.

Communication, Technology, and Online Learning

I am highly comfortable working in online learning environments and use technology to make lessons engaging, interactive, and efficient.

My sessions often include:

  • Interactive presentations
  • Digital note-taking
  • Shared documents for feedback
  • Collaborative planning tools
  • Real-time annotation and discussion

I am fluent in both English and Indonesian, which allows me to work effectively with students from diverse international backgrounds.

Clear communication is one of my strengths. I believe students learn best when explanations are simple, structured, and easy to follow.

Experiences Beyond the Classroom

My professional experiences outside education have also helped shape me as a tutor.

As a Marketing Intern at Morf Wellness Center, I worked on content development, event promotion, and communication strategies. This experience strengthened my organisational skills and taught me how to communicate effectively with different audiences.

I also worked as a Host and Content Creator for DAAI TV’s “Fun Science” programme. In this role, I presented scientific concepts to a broad audience and learned how to explain complex ideas in a way that was both engaging and accessible.

These experiences continue to influence my teaching style today, helping me create lessons that are clear, organised, and student-friendly.

What I Want My Students to Gain

While strong grades are important, I believe education should go beyond examination results.

I want my students to develop:

  • Confidence in their abilities
  • Independent learning habits
  • Critical-thinking skills
  • Academic discipline
  • Strong communication skills
  • Long-term intellectual curiosity

I especially enjoy working with students who are aiming for 6s and 7s, as well as those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to improve. Helping students transform uncertainty into confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring.

My Role at My Tuition Hub Academy

As an IB Specialist Tutor at My Tuition Hub Academy, I am committed to helping students achieve their highest potential through personalised guidance, strategic preparation, and meaningful academic support.

My experience as a perfect-scoring IB graduate allows me to provide practical insights that go beyond textbooks and classroom instruction. I understand the realities of the programme because I have successfully completed it myself.

Through focused mentoring, structured support, and a genuine commitment to student success, I aim to help every learner approach the IB with confidence, clarity, and the belief that exceptional results are achievable.
